trust tainted debased degraded

~
like a child I once believed all that I was told
but power corrupts the moral cowards
bold with freedom from consequences
unfeeling uncaring and ethically degraded
their lies drip like poison infecting truth rejected
carefully selected words and facts unconnected
questions deflected and honesty corrected
damnable untruths suggested and perfected
demented avarice desire and lust accepted
in time Rhadamanthus’ justice dispensed
loneliness, the ultimate fate of amoral liars
stares wolf-like from behind intense red eyes
~
like a child, I wish to believe all I am told
but trust, once broken, is forever soiled
and daylight will never see me crying
